Nuts and bolts of Paper 2

  • Paper 2 is 1 hour 30 minutes in length.
  • You will be presented with an historical enquiry.
  • You will be provided with a variety of historical sources - written, posters, cartoons, photographs etc.
  • There are FIVE questions.
  • You must use the source to reposnd to the questions.

Types of task include:

  • ​Comparing two sources for their 'interpretations (view) of a particular event / issue or person.
  • Comparing the attitudes / messages of two cartoons.
  • Explaining the message of a cartoon.
  • Considering the purpose of a particular source.
  • Discussing the reliability or utility (value) of a source as 'evidence'.
  • Using one source to determine whether another source is 'lying'.
  • Using ALL the sources to evaluate an overarching statement: e.g Was the Treaty of Versailles fair?
