- Think about the IMPACT
- Compare before and after to help explain the impact. e.g What was American society life after the Wall St Crash? Before the economy was booming, afterwards it collapsed...
- It could be an important speech, a war, a coup, an election, a treaty, a deal, a death.....but what makes it important?
- Categorise your thinking - Is the impact political, social, economic, fiscal, religious,
- Think scale - how many people and who (be specific) are affected?
- Think duration - did the impact last? Or was it only ‘fleeting’
- Was the ‘thing’ so significant it could be described as a TURNING POINT ? (Like the Tet offensive in Vietnam)
- Do we still reference it today - is it an historical’anchor point, providing us with a ‘lesson from the past’. e.g The Holocaust.
